OUR HISTORY

ApodanNordic PharmaPackaging

A heritage in pharmaceutical packaging

1962 – A Danish Beginning

ApodanNordic PharmaPackaging was founded in 1962 by John Andreasen under the name Apodan

The company initially focused on supplying pharmaceutical packaging to Danish pharmacies. Over time, several smaller healthcare-related businesses were acquired, expanding the company’s capabilities and product offering within the pharmaceutical sector.

1980s – Industry Transformation and New Direction

The introduction of new pharmaceutical regulations in Denmark during the 1980s led to a centralization of pharmacy production under the Danish Pharmaceutical Association (now Takeda Pharma).

This resulted in a significant shift in market demand, requiring Apodan to adapt its business model.

During this period, the company expanded its product portfolio and began collaborating with hospitals and healthcare manufacturers, including SAD pharmacies and the Danish Serum Institute.

This marked the beginning of Apodan’s transition into a leading supplier of pharmaceutical packaging in Denmark, with growing international export activities.

1987–1992 – New Ownership and Strategic Focus

  • 1987: Apodan was acquired by Olav Vind
  • 1990: The company was transformed into a limited company (Apodan A/S), focusing on chemicals, healthcare products, and galenic medicines for pharmacies in Denmark and Iceland
  • 1992: ApodanNordic PharmaPackaging was established as a dedicated division focusing on pharmaceutical packaging solutions
  • 1998: Apodan became a holding company, founded by Olav Vind, Henning Frandsen, and Morten Lodberg Petersen

This period marked a strategic shift toward specialized pharmaceutical packaging solutions.

2002–2008 – Partnerships and Professionalization

  • 2008: ApodanNordic PharmaPackaging becomes an independent company, strengthening its focus on pharmaceutical packaging for the B2B market

This phase strengthened our regulatory compliance, quality systems, and industrial partnerships.

2010–present – Part Of Fagron Group

  • 2010: ISO 15378 certification achieved for pharmaceutical packaging manufacturing
  • 2012: ApodanNordic PharmaPackaging becomes part of Fagron, a global company specialized in pharmaceutical solutions
